Wadada Leo Smith - Lake Biwa (2004)

Tracks - 4
Length - 01:09:36

Wadada Leo Smith is a trumpeter who mainly works within the avant-garde and free jazz genres. Lake Biwa is a more recent album of his released on John Zorn's Tzadik label. This particular recording is performed by Smith's Silver Orchestra which features John Zorn himself as well as some other recognizable names like Mark Ribot, Anthony Coleman, and a handful of others.

From Tzadik's website:
"Lyrical and powerful orchestral colors, wild solos and, of course, plenty of searing trumpet work by one of the greatest players in the world. Still very much at the top of his form, this is one of Leo's most thrilling recordings."

The Flashbulb - Soundtrack to a Vacant Life (2008)

Tracks - 31
Length - 1:10:51

Soundtrack to a Vacant Life by The Flashbulb, one of Benn Jordan's many pseudonyms, is stylistically quite interesting. It contains an eclectic mix of many genres all interwoven around a backbone of IDM and electronic music. Enjoy.

First Post: Balmorhea - Rivers Arms (2008)

This is the first post so I figured I'd post what I was listening to while creating this blog.

Tracks - 14
Length - 0:59:32

Balmorhea is a Texas based  post-rock group. Rivers Arms is their second full length release from '08, characterized by a graceful combination of folk, modern classical and ambient. The minimal acoustic guitar and piano sections offer a very pure and relaxing experience. This is definitely worth checking out.
